About

A studio for paper animals.

ORIKIND started with one bird: a songbird folded from fourteen pieces of card. It is still the first thing we show people.

We design low-poly animals: reduced to a few hundred flat faces, cut from coloured card, and built by hand. Each one begins as a 3D model that we simplify until every facet has a purpose, then unfold into pieces ready to fold. For some animals, that first 3D model is sketched by an artificial intelligence tool from a reference image; the simplification, unfolding, piece-by-piece checks and adjustments are done with our own tools and by hand.

Kits are cut and creased in our workshop in France, on card coloured through. No colour printing: the tint is the paper's own, and the numbers stay hidden inside.

The guide is written in French and English, and the 3D tutorial animates every fold so you never wonder which way the paper goes.

What we believe

  • A good kit is built at a kitchen table, in an evening or two.
  • The printed side goes inside. The outside is the paper itself.
  • Instructions should be exact: piece numbers, edge numbers, build order.

ORIKIND is designed and made in France. Questions, ideas for animals, photos of your builds: write to us.

The workshop

Give them a spin.

Every object is reduced to a few dozen flat faces. Enough to look great, few enough to build in an evening.
